GROUP SUPERVISION

Another type is ‘group supervision’ where several supervisees attend a group session with a supervisor. An advantage of this is that you could become aware of issues via the material brought by others. This usually a much longer session to allow space for everyone to speak and discuss the issues being brought. It also means you get feedback from others and benefit from their experience.

If you are looking for a supervisor or interested in how being in supervision can help you, contact me to discuss your requirements.

Mindfulness

Mindfulness is the moment to moment awareness invoked by tuning into your breath and every other aspect of your life . It is achieved by purposefully paying attention in a non-judgmental way, to what is going on in your body and mind, and in the world around you. This shift in awareness brought about by staying in touch with your thoughts, feelings and surroundings from one moment to the next, can initiate seeing things differently, it may help to allow you to feel less stuck, or to have a sense of more options, more wisdom, more strength and more confidence in your abilities.

Todays Mindfulness courses and workshops have beeen developed from Jon Kabat-Zinn’s original Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction program at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center, which was developed to help people suffering with chronic physical pain and long-term medical conditions. It included meditation techniques to help participants become more aware of their experience in the present moment, by tuning into moment-to-moment changes in the mind and the body.

The aim in learning about and using Mindfulness is to assist you in taking better care of yourself and in getting the most out of living. People  who use daily mindfulness mediataions and exercisies in their life report lasting physical and psychological benefits such as:  an increased ability to relax,  greater energy and enthusiasm for life, heightened self-confidence and an increased ability to cope more effectively with stressful situations.

The idea is to learn new ways to handle challenging feelings, moods, social interactions and even physical sensations.

Mindfulness therapy can be a good option for people who don’t like to take antidepressants for a long time, according to British researchers. They found that such therapy is effective in preventing the reoccurrence of depression over a two-year period.
